Suzanne Forbes is a traditionally trained figurative artist who makes documentary art of queer culture and Berlin life. She also works in mixed media. She is a former New Yorker who immigrated to Berlin with her third husband and their two cats. Her work is crowdfunded by the support of her Patrons on Patreon; you could help! In previous lives Suzanne was a graffiti artist in downtown NY, a courtroom artist for CBS and CNN, a penciller for DC Comics on Star Trek, and a live-drawing chronicler of Bay Area alternative culture.

Felicity Felicis modeling for Berlin life drawing studio Sketcherei. Felicity is a tall, curvaceous white woman in her 30s, with bright red hair. She is drawn in the style of a fashion illustration, and is wearing a leopard print mermaid gown with enormous gigot sleeves and a high neck. An enormous matching hat is angled across her head.I always love to join a session of Berlin’s hybrid burlesque life-drawing studio, Sketcherei.

Sketcherei supports performers and sex workers and always has great music and vibes. Insta here, upcoming events here! Alexandra Ru (aka Barsketcher) and her mom are running the sessions together, and I love that they offer zoom access.

Felicity is one of the great entertainers and great beauties of Berlin, the rock’n’roll showgirl behind productions like The Sinner’s Saloon and The Theatre of Leeds. Her website is here!

I’ve drawn Felicity before, and actually made it IRL to her Sinner’s Saloon last month!

Walking away from him 2017 by Suzanne Forbes Feb 24 2023 smThis drawing was begun in 2017.

It depicts a moment I saw out the window of the M19 bus in West Berlin, late at night. A bold young woman just blissfully walking away. I drew her and the young man, but didn’t want to draw the bicycle or background, so this quintessential Berlin moment languished unfinished for years. I found a stack of unfinished 2017 drawings this week, and decided to finish a couple of them, thanks to my Patrons.
