Live from New York – The Midnight Foxes!

Midnight Foxes Lace V4 by Suzanne Forbes Aug 20209pm in New York is 3am in Berlin, but I stayed up for this Distanced Drawing event!

I finally made it to a remote model session from the wonderful online life drawing group Distanced Drawing, because I just HAD to draw The Midnight Foxes !! I had seen the Foxes in a very filthy show produced by The Brides of Burlesque and been blown away.

Midnight Foxes Lace V1 Suzanne Forbes Aug 2020So little, so pretty, so STRONG, so KINKY!!!

The petite performers Medianoche and The Ivory Fox gave an absolutely marvelous series of inventive poses, all glowing with chemistry and true vintage fetish style. Enchanting!!!

MediaNoche, left is Miss Exotic World and Queen of Burlesque 2017!

Did you know the famous 1954 Marilyn Monroe nude calendar was also sold in later years with an added acetate overlay of a lace babydoll nightie?

Marilyn Monroe calendar with acetate lace babydoll overlayI did – I was obsessed with Marilyn as an 80s teen, long before Madonna brought her roaring back into the public eye.

Midnight Foxes Lace V 2 by Suzanne Forbes Aug 2020So I created these special censored versions of my Midnight Foxes drawings using nail art lace decals!

You can see Medianoche in a similar look here, using a Playful Promises (sex-worker positive company!) black lace bralette over pasties. She has an OnlyFans where you can support her by checking out saucy looks as well! And don’t miss Damsels in Control, her gallery of gorgeous feminist pin-ups! You can see the original drawings on my eponymous site 🙂

Using “feminine”-coded materials like nail-art decals, which also references the Letraset and Letratype of my illustration youth, is meta, and also pretty.

But you know what? It sucks to censor women’s bodies in order to be in compliance with the TOS of my Patreon account. FOSTA-SESTA is an evil law that has deeply harmed, and continues to harm, the very people it purports to protect. As well as those no one seemed to care about protecting, male sex workers!

Chilling effect is chilling, and the knock-on free speech effects on artists and everyone else have been devastating. I live in Europe, though, and my sites are registered and hosted in Europe, so if you want to see the full glory of The Midnight Foxes – well, you know what to do!

Dropping in on US burlesque shows!

Minda Mae for Disabilitease by Suzanne Forbes July 19 2020Livestreaming shows means I can be anywhere, anytime, if I have the strength.

As I mentioned in this post, I am choosing to limit what I can do according to my level of fatigue, and set goals that are realistic. That means not trying to draw everyone in a show. I dropped in on day 2 of the Disabilitease Festival (which should not be confused with the UK-based show with the same name Disabilitease, which I also drew!) with the intent to draw a couple performers.

I drew the Festival producer Minda Mae, above, doing a beautiful seated bellydance.

Skirt Vonnegut for Disabilitease by Suzanne Forbes July 19 2020And I drew Skirt Vonnegut doing their Existentialism number, for the second time!

I drew Skirt several times last year during their tenure in Berlin, and they are a friend and serious collector of my work, so it was great to get a parallax view of this cool routine.

I also dropped in on “Burlesque at Home“, a great show I would have loved to have seen and drawn all of.

Miss Jessica for Burlesque At Home by Suzanne Forbes June 16 2020Above, New Orleans icon Miss Jay Broussard!

Aka, Jessica Champaign. What a legendary performance! Miss Jay was the finale.

Paul Aleksandr for Burlesque at Home by Suzanne Forbes July 23 2020And this is the lovely host, Paul Aleksandr.

Fellow creepy creature maker and glittery goth clown Paul Aleksandr hosted from the UK! I loved their blue look.

I am so grateful to my Patrons on Patreon, whose monthly financial support lets me keep documenting an international bouquet of burlesque and drag performers while I work safely at home.
