Her calm, gentle nature (except when she’s excited about her tube of goo!) is a balm for us. As shown above, every night our sweet Cody has a Sheba brand “creamy snack“. She loves them soooo much! She is such a precious girl.
One day last week I found out we have to find a new Steuerberater (German tax preparer, incredibly hard to find a trustworthy one) and I was very upset. Cody climbed on my chest and purred and purred to calm me.
The creamy snack tubes smell absolutely disgusting but Cody deserves them! They supposedly have different flavors, but they smell equally disgusting, and she likes them all equally. Cody’s rescuer and Oma, Erika, actually bought this drawing because she loves Cody and misses her a lot. Even though she has six other cats. Cody is special!
Another sweet cat: My friend Niklas’ cat Pi.
Pi is a German tabby cat like Cody, with the characteristic round head and long ears. They both look a lot like European wildcats, Felis silvestris silvestris. Cody even has the fancy winged eyeliner!
Cripes, I don’t know what the hell we would do without cats. That’s all I can say.
Lately I’ve been keeping a small sketchbook in our bed, to draw our cat Cody’s wild poses!
She loves to sleep ON me, sprawled out like the town drunk, totally relaxed.
I was trying to have a rest day, and then she lay on my face!
She likes to be supported by one of my hands.
Like me, Cody doesn’t balance very well, and needs to rest A LOT.
I made these drawings lying down because of terrible vertigo and fatigue from POTS, so they are not very good, but they capture some of Cody’s loving nature anyway, I think.
Cody came to us through a kind of back channel rescue team, from a town outside Berlin.
Cody had been feral for some unknown amount of time.
She was discovered by Erika among the “Free Cats”. Erika and her husband, both 80, feed the Free Cats at the Futterstelle every single day.
Cody was injured by some forest villain.
Erika saw her hobbling towards the food stand, and said that’s it, we’re taking her home, even though we already have six cats (in German of course). Cody liked living inside very much! She didn’t want to go back outside at all! She just wanted to sleep in the bed and cuddle!
A cat so loving needed a family all her own.
So Erika and Andrea found her a forever home (FÜRIMMERZUHAUSE), with us!
